My family and I were sitting around the TV yesterday. It was pouring outside, and lightning sliced through the skies. All of the sudden, were heard a loud pounding on our door. We were all puzzled. "Who would be knocking during times like this?" As it turned out, it was my neighbor. I opened the door and he said "Gary (My name) is your mother home?" He was frantic and looked a little distraught. I called for my mother and she ran to the door. "Kathy, I think Sharon is having a seizure or something." Sharon is my neighbor's wife, and Kathy, is my mom. Well, next thing I know, my mom is running out the door in the pouring rain into the house across the street.
"She was slumped over against the wall, eyes gazed to right, I thought she might be having a stroke." My mom, a nurse, told me later. My mom managed to lay Sharon on the floor so that she could check for her pulse, and for many other things of the sort. Meanwhile, my neighbor dialed 911. "She began thrashing her arms and she opened her eyes, but she didn't know where she was."
I was peering through the front door when a police car showed up, followed by two more cars and then an ambulance. The back doors of the ambulance opened and the paramedics jumped out, pulling a stretcher. This was bad, I thought.
Several minutes later I saw Sharon. She didn't look good at all. She was pale, and her head was flopping from side to side. It was frightning.
Several hours passed by and we found out that she may have suffered from water intoxication (drinking too much water). We aren't positive yet, but we think it might be the problem.

The purpose of this story is to show how fragile life can be and how important your parents can be, without you even knowing it.
I knew my mom was a nurse, but yesterday, seeing her run over there and help our neighbor, it touched me and made me think about her job and what it was really all about.
Perhaps your parents are policeman, fireman, nurses, doctors, etc. Whatever it may be, have you ever thought about their importance, and what they do for you and their jobs? Think about it.
On a final note, please keep Sharon in your thoughts and prayers, and hope she returns home safely.
