August 6th, 1945-

After intense fighting against the Japanese in World War II, U.S.
President Harry S. Truman ordered the use of "Little Boy", a nuclear
weapon made with uranium-235, on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The
blast devastated the area and surrounding areas as well.

The Japanese leaders did not respond...

August 15th, 1945-

The Japanese Surrender

_______________________________________________________________________

The two nuclear weapons killed about 70,000 people during their two uses.

At the end of 1945 the death total ranged from 90,000 to 140,000.
It is also said that 200,000 had died by 1950 due to cancer and
long-term effects.

These were only two bombs, imagine three, four, or five...

While this story is dark and disturbing, it is important to remember it. Some people think of the bombs as unnecessary, but without them millions more lives would have been lost on both sides. And the world as we know it, may not be the same.

Never forget the past,
